How to Commission a Video: Costs, Providers and Your Brief

Choose a video production provider, compare scope and cost, and prepare a clear brief. Includes an example request, published client projects and monthly ad production terms.

To commission a video, align the purpose, work required, budget and publication date, then choose a provider using relevant examples. Editing supplied material and managing planning and filming involve different work even for the same 30-second duration. Start with a shared brief and check the price together with its scope.

FablessBridge’s production team prepared this guide from published client work and production records. Our current service is a monthly subscription for portrait product and service ads. The comparison below also helps identify the team needed for standalone or filmed productions.

Ways to commission a video
Provider or methodBest suited toCheck before a quote
Production companyPlanning, filming and editing together, including locations or castingResponsibilities, filming days, review stages and extra work
Independent creatorA defined task such as editing, with direct communicationSpecialist skills, available scope, backup and scheduling
Ad video subscriptionRegularly testing advertising messages with multiple videosMonthly concepts, counting formats, revisions, cancellation and ad management
In-house productionA team with time for planning, production and reviewStaff time, material rights, quality checks and handover

Company size alone does not decide suitability. Real people or locations require a filming team and schedule. With materials ready, an editing specialist may suit the task. Regular ad production also calls for reviewing previous messages and maintaining a reliable approval process.

See video production providers for published conditions and their research dates. They are not guaranteed current individual quotes.

Compare video costs at the same duration and scope

There is no universal price for a 30-second video. Filming, editing existing footage, animation and multiple formats involve different work. Match these items before comparing quotes:

  1. 01
Who prepares the concept, script and storyboard
  2. 02
Whether filming, casting, travel, studio and stock material are included
  3. 03
Duration, number of concepts and delivery formats; whether extra formats count as extra videos
  4. 04
Captions, narration, music and revision limits
  5. 05
Production, ad spend and management separately, with applicable tax

FablessBridge offers 3 videos for $1,500 or 6 for $2,700 per month, excluding tax. Each is 15–30 seconds, delivered in 9:16 and 4:5. These are our own service prices, not market averages. Planning, production, editing, a monthly 30-minute call, and one major and two minor revisions per video are included. Delivery dates depend on materials, approvals and volume (checked November 4, 2026).

Prepare your information and a reusable request

A finished script is not required. Mark undecided items as undecided, and separate product facts from creative preferences. This fictional example is a template, not an actual order.

Purpose: explain the product and encourage visits to its page
Audience: people discovering the product for the first time
Placement: Instagram Reels and feed ads
Scope: planning, captions, production and editing; no filming
Volume and formats: 3 concepts monthly, each in 9:16 and 4:5, 15–30 seconds
Materials: official product page, photos and logo; no real-person material
Budget: considering $1,500/month excluding tax for production; ad spend separate
Desired publication: [date]; internal approvals need 2 business days
Required wording: product name, price and terms from the official page
References: URLs and the specific structure or caption treatments to reference
Example brief for a fictional product, not an actual order or client engagement.

Explain which part of a reference helps: the opening question, product scale or caption readability. Do not request direct copying of another company’s footage or music.

What to approve from consultation to delivery

  1. 01
Consultation: share purpose, materials and date, and align the work and quote
  2. 02
Order: confirm fees, deliverables, revisions, payment, usage and deadlines
  3. 03
Script and storyboard: check product facts, sequence and required wording
  4. 04
Draft and revisions: combine internal comments with timestamps and reasons
  5. 05
Delivery and publication: check formats, sound, text, destination links and permissions
  6. 06
Ongoing work: share ad response and the next message to test

If several people review internally, identify the final decision-maker and required time. The client still needs to approve product facts and advertising claims.

Published examples of briefs and revisions

The 30-second Ekusid introduction is a client project published with permission. For use in company presentations, an early people-led concept changed to a sequence connecting business problems with solutions. Its before-and-after versions show structure, movement, text and sound separately.

The 90-second kucca introduction is another permitted client project, using official product photos and logos. The product-photo case study explains how photos were assigned to the introduction, comparison and closing, separating source materials from fictional scenes.

These are earlier production examples, not subscription deliveries or advertising performance results. Their 90-second or landscape specifications are not part of the current subscription.

Check these terms for monthly ad production

Distinguish format versions from different advertising concepts. Does “3 videos” mean 3 concepts or 3 exported files? FablessBridge delivers 3 or 6 videos each month, each in both 9:16 and 4:5.

The contract is month-to-month; cancellation requires notice by the end of the preceding month. We accept up to 3 companies a month, with availability and start dates confirmed individually. You may run your own ads and share results at the planning call. Optional ad management has separate fees.

Can you enquire before the concept or budget is fixed?

Yes. Share the product, use and desired date, and discuss what still needs deciding. Filming or a standalone long-form video requires a provider offering that work. FablessBridge currently offers ongoing 15–30 second portrait ad production.

AI production also requires checking product names, prices, logos and permissions for real people. See how to review examples and approvals, as well as the production method.
